Factions in Pre-Searing?
How will this work? If you have to start as a lvl 1 in Cantha can you cross over to Tyria and do quests. This hasn't really been explained anywhere. (Though I must admit I haven't looked all that many places) I suppose that people buying Factions only will have to stay in Cantha, but people who are adding Factions to existing accounts will have the oppurtunity to start characters in either of the two starting cities? Can a W/R start in Cantha or a Assasin/Ritualist start in Pre-Sear Tyria? Because if I can't do the quests with the Factions characters, I don't know if I will be buying the add-on (I don't really pvp, I think it takes too long with equally matched teams). Also, in the Arena won't Faction add-on groups have advantages over groups that don't have both (more skills, weapons, etc...). Can existing characters switch second profs. to Assasin or Ritualist, I imagine a lvl 20 Ele/Rit would be fairly formidable, as would stance Wa/As.

Ok, I've been thinking about this as well.
What we saw during the FPE is not even half of what Cantha will offer. There was a map that was leaked from the closed beta testers (that guy must've been kicked out because it's an NDA map). In the map, it showed that a larget percentage of the Canthan continent have content and explorable/mission areas. To put it simply, the Canthan world map is 2/3 of the size of Tyria but is more dense. Cantha is also the "neutral" country of the Canthan continent. Remember there are 3 countries in the Canthan continent who were formerly under the Canthan King's "Dragon Empire" (Cantha = China; Kurzick = Korea; Luxon = Japan -> Korea and Japan always been in some sort of semi-cold war, China is balancing out the two [just some comparison]). Cantha, in the leaked map, appears to control the seashore side of the Canthan continent from the north-east to the north-west down to south-west. One of those might be an area for lowbies. High level areas are the Kurzick and Luxon areas which are deep inside the Canthan continent and where the war is at. Further than that is well maybe Campaign 4 Since they hinted they're going to use the other unused areas of Tyria, that might be Campaign 3?? Who knows, just a speculation. ^_^ But there will be no "pre-searing" in Cantha since Pre-Searing didn't happen there, although storywise, they know what happened to Orr. Heck, they all worship the same gods. |

The pre-searing is just a sort of tutorial of how to do quests and usage of skills.
If you gonna merge your acount you will have full acces in both continent. either you are ascended or not. |

Ok, everything mentioned here I kinda knew, just not to full extent.
What I am trying to ask, and I guess not clearly, is where does a lvl 1 start? In Pre-sear, Cantha, or Ascalon after searing... Do you get an option where to start? Will it be the same deal as before where you can pick a primary and get to sample all the others as a secondary before choosing? |

As noted above, there will be a tutorial area in Cantha similar to Pre-searing, but it will not be "Pre" as we now know it. This is an entirely different continent. Creating a new char in Factions will be level one and your will start in this tutorial area.
If you merge your accounts, your Ascended characters will be able to travel to Cantha via boat from LA. They will not be going through the tutorial area. |

The tutorial area in Factions for new characters, I believe, is going to be akin to a monestary or the like. The areas we saw in the FPE is only a part of the full Factions map and these were high level. There will, of course, have to be areas where low level characters can participate in missions, quests and xp, particularly where Factions only players are concerned. Not everyone will have both campaigns, remember

You can start a core class char in either Tyria or Cantha, but a char containing non-core classes, i.e. Assasin or Ritualist must start in cantha. Presumuably there will be a pre-searing esque area which teaches you how to play the game / test classes as secondary and gives you the skills you need to make your way in life. |

I think the lowlevel areas will be in the north-eastern part of Cantha.
Just a theory coz looking at the Tower picture of where Shiro killed the king, it is situated in an island. An island area is South-West of Cantha. Also if you reached the ending of the 1st part of the Faction Storyline wherein you are successful in uniting the Kurzick and Luxon to join Cantha's cause to defeat Shiro, you are already way down the map. I don't know how many of us saw the leaked Cantha Map, but there are still towns below and there's a town to go to in the islands (if I remember the picture correctly). That will be the area for the final missions. THe 2nd arc of the storyline for factions. After that, it's all Kurzick vs Luxon until Campaign 3. |
